Santa Fe Music Works
Fall Workshops 2013

The World In Six Songs:
A Choral Workshop

Songs of Friendship, Songs of Joy, Songs of Comfort, Songs of Knowledge, Religious Songs, and of course, Songs of Love.

Using Daniel Levitan's landmark book on the six basic types of songs as our text, we will explore and sing music drawn from the vast history of vocal literature for chorus and small ensembles including madrigals and love songs, work songs and lullabies, dirges to dances, holiday to everyday, new music and old favorites.

The World in Six Songs will meet Saturday afternoons,
September 28 - December 14, 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. at Holy Family Episcopal Church, in Santa Fe, NM.
Registration fee, including music, is $125.00.
Daniel Levitan's textbook The World In Six Songs, (published by Dutton in 2009) can be purchased separately.

Practical Musicianship For Fun and Profit!
  • Do you love to sing, but think you don't know how to read music?
  •  Do you feel like you don't even know how to begin to analyze a piece for performance or for your own enjoyment?
  • Have you asked yourself, "What is this composer trying to do here?"
  • Have you forgotten (or tried to forget) everything you learned in Music Theory?
  • Do you get hives every time you think about music theory and analysis?

Then this class is for you: In ten short sessions, we will solve the mysteries of musical analysis and sight reading and help you enjoy making music again.

Practical Musicianship meets Saturday afternoons, September 28 - December 7, 12:30 - 2:00 p.m. at Holy Family Episcopal Church, in Santa Fe, NM or by SKYPE - Internet feed.  Registration fee is $125.00
